SABIA Slurry Analyser Explained

SABIA’s family of PGNA nuclear elemental analysers includes not only the impressive performance of belt analysers for cement and coal but also a remarkable line of analysers that mount on slurry pipes within a customer’s existing operation to provide valuable information about the elemental composition of the slurry.  This kind of information permits real time process adjustments that result in improved quality, yield, energy consumption while extending the life of reserves, decreasing unplanned shutdowns, and extending the useful life of equipment.  The non-invasive measurement is made on the entire process stream in real time.  The SABIA Slurry Analyser system can also include closed loop real time process control with SABIA offering its own control software.  Normally the customer is asked to provide a slurry consisting of about 30% solids at a consistent density flow rate.  This can vary depending on the elemental parameter of interest and its concentration.  The customer inserts a flanged, six foot section of HDPE pipe into their process stream.  In turn the analyser, which has a clamshell construction bolts onto the six foot HDPE section.  The customer brings power, normal 15amp AC service, and an Ethernet cable to the unit and the system is ready to go. The SABIA X1-XP Slurry Analysers represent a shift in thinking about the way slurries are analysed when compared to conventional systems which were sample based and relied on troublesome sampling systems and multiplexers.  Because of this unique approach the SABIA Slurry Analyser’s easy to install on-pipe system is patented.  The analyser works effectively on pipe sizes from six inches to twenty four inches.  Successful applications have been demonstrated with installations in the production of nickel, phosphate, and gold.  Please contact SABIA so we can help with your potential application.

The X1-L Sample Analyzer for Coal and Cement – a unique tool. 

A unique product in SABIA’s line of analyzers is the X1-L Static Sample Analyzer for coal and cement.  This product line uses the same high performance detectors and electronics as the on belt LiNX family of analyzers that has been so successful in the cement and coal markets.  The important difference is that the X1-L Static Sample Analyzer for coal and cement utilizes a one gallon sample obtained from anywhere in the plant the customer chooses.  Whether the sample is from a cement operation, a coal operation or a minerals operation, the results are presented in the same way a LiNX on belt analyzer presents results to a customer.   The results are displayed with an effective customer interface screen.  Results can be obtained in as little as 10 minutes or as many as 30 or 60 minutes depending on what is most effective for the customer.  In one application a customer uses the unit for a 3 to 4 minute analysis of rock from trucks coming from a cement quarry to determine if the load should go to the cement plant or to the aggregate plant.  It can also be used to get a quick sense of the quality of the regions of a quarry to allow optimum plant results.  Whether for cement, coal, or minerals the unit can be used for ongoing checks on processes to keep them under control and operating optimally.  The system is safe to use even in a laboratory.  An operator can be trained in 20 to 30 minutes in the operation.  No sample preparation is required. To operate the unit the customer obtains a 1 gallon sample (enough to fill the pitcher shown), inserts it into the unit via the drawer shown and starts a tag for a predetermined period of time, for example 15 minutes.  After 15 minutes the results are displayed to the customer on the screen shown and the customer can take the appropriate operational action as a result.  This system has been installed in coal and cement.
